I have provided long-term respite care for Cobey Thomas, a non-verbal young man with severe autism. My responsibilities include assisting with communication, daily routines, safety supervision, and emotional support. Over the years, Cobey and his family have become like my own. This experience has taught me patience, compassion, and adaptability, qualities that I bring to my relationships with future dental patients.

Community Outreach through LMU College of Dental Medicine

I participate in local elementary school dental screening events, where I help perform basic assessments, provide oral hygiene instruction, and educate children on the importance of preventive care. These experiences reinforce my passion for public health and my commitment to reducing oral health disparities through early education and access.

Animal Care Volunteer — Young-Williams Animal Shelter & Asheville Animal Hospital (2024-2025)

Supported staff in animal care, cleaning, feeding, and socialization for adoptable pets. I assisted veterinary technicians and learned about teamwork in medical environments, lessons that seamlessly transfer to patient care in dentistry.

Fantasy of Trees Volunteer — Knoxville, TN (2019-2024)

Volunteered at Knoxville’s annual Fantasy of Trees, a large-scale fundraiser benefiting East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Assisted with event coordination, guest engagement, and community outreach. This event embodies the spirit of service, combining creativity, collaboration, and compassion for children.
